Marie-Avril Berthet is a geographer and DJ. In her “geography of the night” research, she looks at the social and cultural value of human interactions in the city after dark as a window to question real estate policies, legislation and hyper regulation, social and economic regulation, feelings of belonging and conditions of cultural production. She is also coordinator of the Great Council of the Night, a group of night venue owners and night professionals, night lovers and researchers, engaged in defending a diverse and vibrant nightlife in Geneva, and raisonsociale dedicated to "festive theory".
