Luca Bazelli & Imogen Macpherson (HS18)

The work archives 600 photographs from 120 inhabited middle-class apartments in Zurich, taken in 2018. The apartments are photographed in a systematic manner, highlighting the naturally lived-in state of occupation with all the details and nuances of domestic life. The photographs were grouped, framing 'patterns' that focus on spatial qualities rather than function or use. Furthermore, it demonstrates this catalogue of everyday scenes to be a driving force for the development of architectural space, that is fragmented and dense yet functionally ambiguous at the same time. Through four look-in-the-box models, the observer is invited to physically experience and mentally appropriate the generated spaces.
