(A)mending

(A)mending space is about embracing the fluctuating nature of use. Maximizing a volume - in the eyes of the developer, the inhabitant, the neighbor, the business owner, the employee - is an act performed in many particular ways that can be conjoined to create exciting relationships and collaborations within a common structure. In minimizing the nature of adjustments, yet infusing the Gretag ensemble with generous shared amenities that combine acts of living, collectivity, infrastructure, and circulation, the building can change slowly in ways that are simultaneously minimal and fundamental. Change in the assemblage is as much about reformulating the systems of operation, circulation, and environmental interaction, as it is about reconstructing foundational notions of ownership and pragmatic, resolutional systems of sharing.
