What you See is What you Get

The basis of the project is a constant observation and obtaining in-depth knowledge of the existing materials, which are present on site in different layers and periods.

The broad knowledge of these materials, their respective lifespans, what needs to be replaced at some point in the building's history, and what is actually missing can be effectively used to (re)shape the future of the Gretag building conglomerate over time.

The ability to work and act directly on site played a large role in this strategy. The division into layers, and beyond that - through a gradual expansion from one space to the corner of the building - also the division into different systems that keep the building alive, allow us to stop seeing buildings and architectural proposals as finite products or proposals that can be demolished in 80 years or even less. Each element of the building has its own life cycle and must be thought of and designed within that cycle.
