Through transforming the former five floors of bureau-scape, while simultaneously extending another 6 floors, a densified & diverse indoor, as well as outdoor living environment emerges.

The following mix of typologies is to be found: Cluster apartments, shared flats and maisonette-studios within the existing as well as 2.5-4 room apartments on the upper floors.

Hereby the logic of the existing consists of three split volumes as an atrium is being cut out; these are interconnected on every second floor through a gallery which – begins and ends- in a double height terrace. The central open staircase underlines this exchange not only between the floors but also between old and new. It also integrates the sixth floor, which serves as a collective floor and provides private outdoor space. The extension consists of more rigid, smaller, and less attached apartments with private loggias.

The 8 x-pillars of the existing are reinforced with H-beams and are extended through which they carry the expressive tension construction of the top up. Through this, it’s lightness can be articulated and is manifested in a steel construction.

The building also provides to the quality of public life, by opening the overhigh basement for the neighbourhood with communal facilities.
